Apple, Zigbee, Amazon, and Google are going to work together to develop an open standard for smart home devices. This collaboration basically focuses on making it simpler to create smart devices, which will work with Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant, etc., for hardware developers.
Various other board partners in the same involve NXP Semiconductors, Wulian, Samsung SmartThings, Signify, Resideo, Legrand, Silicon Labs, and more. Moreover, it’s great to witness these biggest companies to be working on one project and the results are much awaited. These companies are further looking forward to making devices by considering the privacy, security, and reliability.
As per all of them, “The project is built around a shared belief that smart home devices should be secure, reliable, and seamless to use. By building upon Internet Protocol (IP), the project aims to enable communication across smart home devices, mobile apps, and cloud services and to define a specific set of IP-based networking technologies for device certification.”
Moreover, Open Smart Home Standard will work to enhance the overall compatibility with as many devices as possible. This project further focuses on to develop a standard when it comes to connectivity. Also, as per the unified connectivity protocol, they are working on to make manufacturers utilize technologies that are available at present.
However, there aren’t many details like development timing or roadmaps revealed yet by these companies. So we will require waiting for their further movement on this plan of royalty-free connectivity standard.
