Almost a month before the launch of its all-new electric car Taycan, the German automaker Porsche has bagged more than 30,000 deposits in terms of reservation in its name that is enough to suggest and support the company’s plan to produce 40,000 units in a year. Porsche HR Head Andreas Haffner in an interview with German business publication Handelsblatt revealed the number of reservations along with the citation by Bloomberg.
On the initial stage, Porsche was planning to produce 20,000 units for the first year but after getting this huge support by its audience and by keeping in mind the interest shown, the company has already planned to double the production. Reservations require a €2,500 deposit ($2,785).
Apart from that, if things go as per the plan and the company successfully delivers 40,000 units in the first year then Porsche Taycan has been expected to some of the most iconic internal combustion models that include the 718 Boxster and the 911. Porsche was able to sell 35,573 911s and 24,750 718 vehicles globally in the year 2018.
Porsche Taycan is also expected to compete directly with the more established players of this segment such as the Tesla Model S, which is the famous luxury electric sedan that has been dominating this market. Tesla delivers its model s and model X in this segment. In the year 2018, 99,394 Model S and X vehicles were brought by the company. Moreover, the number itself is quite huge.
